California developer brings multimillion-dollar project to Chickasha

CHICKASHA, Okla. — A California developer is bringing a multi-million-dollar project to Grady County.

The developer, with roots here in Oklahoma, is developing a project to bring more economic success and opportunity to downtown Chickasha.

“So, this coming, us coming, is going to keep it growing, so as we build this bridge and this hotel, ’cause it’s going to happen. Chet doesn’t let things fail–and it’s going to keep moving forward,” Jennifer Hernandez, director of sales and marketing with Towns End, said.

The owner of Towns End, Chet Hitt, is originally from Anadarko and is now wanting to bring more development opportunities to the community of Chickasha. This includes the development of a new hotel, pedestrian bridge and more.

“We could come to town and build a restaurant, some other things and make it fun but there are other things that people have mentioned, like lodging in hotels. We need more entertainment, more stuff for people here to do as people come into town,” Hernandez said.

City officials said the goal of the project is to attract more young people and to encourage them to take part in the Chickasha workforce and community. On Jan. 3, the Chickasha City Council approved moving forward with the development.

“Now, we’re here to present and see if we can’t get the state involved, government involved and helping with resources like funding grants and stuff like that to build a pedestrian bridge between the fairgrounds and downtown,” Hernandez said.

The Towns End development will bring in more tourism from across the state and even across the nation, with city officials saying it’s time to take the city to the next level. Officials said some projects are expected to begin this year, while the bridge and hotel projects may take a couple of years to begin.
